Jan Henderson Original Art

The Artful Heart Center

"Are you open minded, fun and supportive of others? Then you'll fit right in. I'll bet that you are also wondering if you are good enough. Well, making you successful is my job and I'm good at it. You will get frustrated, after all you are doing something new, or improving your existing skills".

"I love to teach. I get enormous pleasure from the work that my students create and that they are so proud of. It's like I have 30+ projects in process and each needs instruction and direction. I don't care if you have ever painted or drawn before. You are reading this because you want to create and want a fun and safe space to do that. I provide that."

Beginners are welcome! So are well behaved dogs!

If you are seriously ready to take the leap and want to visit a class, please carefully read the following and email me.

Classes are ongoing. You work on a project of your choice. I'll help you select one based on your experience and put together a supply list with your project and budget in mind.

Fall 2017-Winter 2018

Space is limited - 5 or 6 adult students per class. That allows space for a student to get in a make-up for a missed class.

Saturday: 10 - Noon - There is room for two painting or drawing.

Tuesday: 6 - 7:30 pm - Full*

Wednesday: 3:30 - 5:00 pm - There is one opening for drawing and one for painting.

Wednesday: 6 to 7:30 pm - Full*

Thursday: 6 - 7:30 pm - There is one opening for drawing and one for painting.

Friday: 10:00 - 11:30 am - Full*

Classes are $30 each. There are no start and stop dates. The classes are ongoing. People can start whenever they choose to.

  • Everyone pays for the entire month at or before the first class of the month ($120 for four weeks and $150 for five weeks).
  • Students contact me when they will miss with as much advance notice as possible. If you get sick, well we don't want you to share with us, tires get flat, etc.
  • There is room in each class for a student to get in a make-up time and it's fun to meet other artists. Space is on a first come basis.
  • No notice, no makeup. And, maybe someone had hoped to use an open space for a makeup.
  • Students agree to give two weeks notice when they drop out, and by joining a class, you agree to these terms.

There are lots of source materials, aprons/shirts, art supplies, refrigerator, microwave and space to store your supplies and project. In evening classes some drink wine (if you partake then you have joined the 'wine club' and we each contribute). Sometimes we share snacks too!

A New Student Policy information sheet that discusses in more detail make-ups, etc. will be sent to each interested person.

My job is to help make you a successful artist, teach you, mentor you and provide a great environment for you to learn!

The Artful Heart Center is located in the center of Salt Lake City in Sugarhouse, with really easy freeway access. Click on the 'contact' link and email me if you have questions.

Be sure and look at the 'Students Projects Pages'. There is quite a variety of things that students have created and they are all wonderful.

Thanks, Jan

*I keep a waiting list of everyone who is interested in future openings.
